Created along with the other five towers during the Time of Magick, Astyr serves as home to the Red Robes. It is nestled beneath the shadows of the Kaliois Mountains south of the Dwarven kingdom of Nosatral in the north-eastern area of the Upper Continent of Vermirth. The nearby port town of Fareen supplies Astyr with all its needs. At a steady traveling pace, it takes one day to get from the entrance of Nosatral to Astyr and then a day and a half from there to Fareen.
Astyr is mostly dominated by Dwarven and Gnomish mages, though Humans have flocked there in the past thirty years due to the war. It is now considered the place of study following the fall–out of the Reckoning. It escaped unscathed due to the valiant efforts of the Underraces and Paladins during the wars.
The primary focus of the towers mages has been to fuse magick with stonework, though, out of necessity, they have begun expanding their breath of study to include folks who would have been studying at Wintral, Rystavansti, or Kalien.
